BlackGold Biofuels (BGB) has developed groundbreaking, patent-pending technology to convert nuisance sewer greases into biodiesel, a low-carbon diesel fuel substitute that can be used in any diesel engine without modification. BGB handles the sale of the technology licenses, processes equipment, provides ancillary support services to water utilities, waste haulers, and energy developers and owns and operates processing units itself. BGB’s technology simultaneously solves multiple major problems in the wastewater and biofuels industries, creating a lucrative renewable energy asset from a pollution liability.
After 5 years of R&D, BGB has established a pilot plant in Philadelphia and has recently sold its first plant license to the City of San Francisco.
Model: BGB handles the sale of the technology licenses, processing equipment, provides ancillary support services to water utilities, waste haulers, and energy developers and owns and operates processing units itself.
Co-Founder: Emily Landsburg, only eight years after graduating from Columbia with a degree in Applied Math, is an experienced entrepreneur, having founded and sold DownWind Dockside Services, a marine sewage disposal company before establishing southeastern PA’s largest biodiesel distribution program while at The Energy Cooperative.
