GoodCompany Ventures founder David Famolari and his team at Wharton have won the regional Sustainable Venture Capital Investment Competition, and are heading to the national competition in March.
The regional SVCIC held at Wharton this month was comprised of four operating businesses from Philadelphia that made pitches to teams of 4. Famolari’s team, comprised of himself, Amit Jain, Joe Stein, and Eugene Lebedev, selected PlaySay, a start up that has developed a foreign language application for mobile devices.
SVCIC as an organization is committed “accelerating sustainable entrepreneurship,” and for Famolari, this commitment struck a chord:
As a co-founder of GoodCompany Ventures, a venture incubator helping to launch social impact business, I understand that the market-orientation, discipline and accountability that VCs bring to the table help socially-minded firms organize their efforts in ways that are sustainable by the market. Sustainable, scalable business models are the best way for social entrepreneurs to expand the scope, depth and longevity of their impact.
Congratulations to Famolari and his team!
